Invitation to media event - Genetically engineered plants and independent risk research

Testbiotech invites the media to join them for presentations and discussions on the risks of genetically engineered plants and support for independent risk research. The media event will take place on 14 June 2012 at the Haus der Wissenschaft in Bremen. The reason for holding this event is an international conference at the University of Bremen on 14 and 15 June 2012 (www.gmls.eu). During the conference, scientists from the US, Argentina and the EU will present some of their recent research. Amongst these are three projects supported by Testbiotech in cooperation with several foundations. The programme will include:
  • Angelika Hilbeck, Institute for Integrative Biology of the ETH in Zuerich, Switzerland and European Network of Scientists for Social and Environmental Responsibility (ENSSER):
Controversy over proper testing of nontarget beneficial insects for risk assessment of genetically engineered crops
  • Robin Mesnage, Criigen, France:
Toxicity of herbicides and insecticides in combination with genetically engineered plants.
  • Christoph Then, Testbiotech, Germany:
Genetically engineered plants and problems in independent risk research

Date: 14 June 2012, 11.45 - 12.30 a.m.

Location: Haus der Wissenschaft, Sandstraße 4, Bremen, www.hausderwissenschaft.de
